Muslim Futures is working in some of the worst affected areas of south Punjab, just north of Rajanpur, providing permanent one-room shelter homes. Rebuilding these homes means that these families can start to rebuild their lives, their livelihoods and their futures.
We are rebuilding small communities of 3, 5 or 7 homes, complete with a safe, clean water supply. To protect families from future similar calamities , we have built solid, permanently constructed brick-built homes in place of the mud homes that were destroyed.
A home costs just £1,490 and gives shelter to a family of at least five.
Built with 7,500 bricks, it has sturdy nine-foot walls, a pre-cast concrete beam and block roof, steel re-inforcement, and quality steel doors and windows. Each home is built on a 18 inch cemented platform base, with a damp proof course, to protect against flooding and reduce the risk of damage in the future.
