This Ramadan, Feed Palestine!

The imperative need to feed starving people in Palestine is a pressing crisis that demands our immediate attention this Ramadan. After 16 months of brutal and unrelenting starvation of the people of Gaza, the need to ACT NOW is not just a matter of providing aid—it is our moral obligation to tackle the starvation and malnutrition that is now affecting a significant portion of the population, with children being especially vulnerable.

The impacts are devastating: weakened immune systems, stunted growth, and increased susceptibility to diseases are just some of the consequences. The lives of countless people hang in the balance, and Muslim Futures stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people, organising and delivering the support necessary to help them survive and rebuild their lives. This Ramadan, we focus on providing a range of food security activities, delivered through our LOCAL partner teams and individual volunteers in Gaza to help families enjoy nutritious Iftar and Suhoor meals that will begin the process of rebuilding their strength and resilience.

Essential supplies to support new-born babies and infants in Gaza, such as nappies and infant formula milk, are at an all-time critical low. Maternity facilities, alongside the entire infrastructure to support new mothers and babies have been completely destroyed. Yet local teams on the ground are bravely rehabilitating facilities as fast as possible to provide much-needed shelter and comfort to the families that should be celebrating new life, rather than being terrified for their own. Donate today and give life-critical support to the vulnerable and new-born.

What, Where, Why and How?

Muslim Futures arranges Hot Cooked meals ('Tikyah' gatherings), either street or kitchen based. Wherever possible, to support individual dignity, we arrange delivery to the families directly. We also deliver food parcels, fresh vegetable bags and sacks of wheat or rice. Muslim Futures runs a fresh bread making shop during Ramadan, supporting well over 100,000 people with freshly baked bread, as well as daily water tanker deliveries using 5000l tankers. We distribute infant formula milk and nappies for babies, blankets to families, and warm clothes and Eid treats to children. In addition, most importantly we also distribute cash payments of Zakat to needy families to ensure that everyone has the chance to support themselves and their families by buying essentials.

The support carried out in Gaza is delivered by independent small local partner teams and individual volunteers locally based. They are based in Rafah, Al-Mawasi and Khan Younis in the South of Gaza, Deir Al Balah, Nuseirat and Bureij in the Central area of Gaza, and Gaza City, Jabaliya and Beit Hanoun in the North.

Each partner team is registered as a local NGO organisation with the experience and capability to reach large numbers of people quickly. Individual volunteers are known to Muslim Futures over a period of time and work within their local communities to support the vulnerable and displaced. All teams and individuals go through extensive and regular verifications and due diligence checks.

Muslim Futures needs to ensure that all your kindness can reach its rightful recipients. So our processes reflect both the sending and the receiving. And we always remain extremely vigilant against the rise in scams related to Gaza.

We implement a rigorous and detailed process of due diligence, checking, verification and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning), all based on Charity Commission guidelines. We go through up to 28 individual points of process to verify a possible partner, including 3rd party references, HM Government checks and bank verification, before stress testing against various external resources. We only accept a partner team or individual once this has been completed and a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding and other deliverables have been agreed. All our delivery and implementation teams and individuals in Gaza have gone through this process.

In addition, every project we carry out in Gaza has a media and data requirement attached to it, and we ensure that we receive all agreed deliverables of the activity as soon as is practically possible. These are available to view on our social media channels, our website, and upon request. Naturally, circumstances in Gaza at present dictate that the timing and quality of any media received may vary, and is reliant on wi-fi or data availability.

All of the support Muslim Futures delivers into Gaza is carried out by LOCAL people using LOCALLY AVAILABLE goods bought from the local markets in Gaza, supplied and stocked by the commercial trucks that enter Gaza. Our teams and volunteers then pay for those items either using electronic bank transfer, or cash (with high cash conversion fees), from the available funds that Muslim Futures have transferred to them. We request them to monitor availability and keep us updated with prices, so that we can make an assessment of how far your kindness can reach, and how quickly we can get the help to those who need it the most.

These commercial supplies are distinct from the items brought into Gaza by humanitarian aid trucks supplied by external charity agencies. Muslim Futures does not directly contract humanitarian aid trucks to enter into Gaza. Further information on both humanitarian aid and commercial activity entering Gaza can be see on the UN's OHCAOPT website.
